Willard Gaylin
American bioethicist (1925–2022)
Willard Marvin Gaylin (February 23, 1925 – December 30, 2022) was an American bioethicist and physician who served as clinical professor of psychiatry at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.
He was also the co-founder, along with Daniel Callahan, of The Hastings Center, an independent research institute focused on bioethics. Gaylin served as president of the Hastings Center from its inception, in 1969, until 1993 and as chairman of the board from 1993 to 1994.

Biography
Born in Cleveland, Ohio,[1] Gaylin received his B.A. from Harvard College in 1947 and his M.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1951.[2] He went on to earn a Certificate in Psychoanalytic Education from the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research.
